Tucson Carriage House is located in West University, close to downtown Tucson and the University of Arizona. There are two units in our building, the Upstairs and the Downstairs Studio. Being on University Blvd. and in the West University Historic District, it is less than 3 short blocks west of the Main Gate of the University Of Arizona. Located between the two on University Blvd., The Main Gate Square commercial district has many restaurants and shops that are open into the evening. An historic trolley runs down University Blvd. from the Main Gate west and then south to the end of the 4th Ave business district. There you will find more shops and restaurants, food co-op, bookstore, etc. (Please see our "Links" tab) and from there a short walk and you are downtown on Congress St. The trolley, slated for improvement, will eventually go through the University to the Medical Center on Campbell and down to Rio Nuevo on the west side of downtown, adding several miles to the line.
Carriage House
Essentially an historic "carriage house" design, our Upstairs
unit features a fully furnished apartment with many pieces of restored and cleaned antique furniture. From private entry to the inside stairway, this west elevation door opens on a semi-private brick patio that has a recliner, glass topped table with four chairs and a three burner propane grill. In the living space upstairs on the second level, as is traditional in a carriage house, are two back to back private bedrooms/bathrooms.
With a pull-out bed in the living room sofa, we can comfortably accommodate up to five or six people. It has a private entrance, large linen closet, FAG heat/air conditioning, solid oak hardwood floors, tiled bath floors, tiled showers, porcelain sinks, Toto toilets,ceiling fans in the bedrooms and living room, washer/dryer combo, whole-house vacuum system, shellac coated solid hand-rubbed fir doors, maple/birch cabinets , dishwasher, drinking water filter, pull-out trash bin, microwave, electric range, under-cabinet lighting, 50" flat screen TV, Dish Network, DVD player with a selection of movies, stereo radio/CD player, DSL wireless internet, antique lighting, and many antique pieces of furniture. What we offer
We are short term rental, not a bed and breakfast. We are set up to accommodate daily and extended stays near the University of Arizona and downtown Tucson. Our unit is new as of May of 2010. We provide a full kitchen for those who wish to do their own cooking. There are ample places to eat in the area for those who wish not to prepare their own meals.
We offer a secure and private apartment that stresses cleanliness and quietness to make you feel at home. We provide linens and washing facilities for those who wish to take care of their own laundry.

Both entire apartments are a smoke free environment. No exceptions. Smoking is only allowed outside of the building. We are not set-up to accommodate children or those with disabilities that prevent them from climbing stairs. Sorry, there are no pets allowed. Seeing eye animals will be accommodated.

New room added! - The Downstairs Studio
We have expanded our capacity and added a third bedroom with a private bath on the first floor. With it, we can accommodate those who can't climb stairs. And it is available to be used with the upstairs rooms, or apart from it. It features a 42" TV, that also has Dish Network, DVD player, movies, and radio/CD player. It also features a queen size bed and a queen size futon that folds out into a bed.
The Studio is a large room of over 200 sq.ft. with a kitchen that is similar to a studio apartment. It is connected to the upstairs through a hallway off the kitchen. It has access to the outdoor patio through two sets of french doors. And it features hardwood floors like the upstairs. $85 per night depending upon the season. Special events may be higher.
